October 31, 2017 – Eight people are killed and almost a dozen injured when a 29-year-old man in a rented pickup truck drives down a busy bicycle path near the World Trade Center in New York. The suspect has been identified as Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov. Authorities found a note near the truck used in the incident, claiming the attack was made in the name of ISIS.

Definition
Terrorism means an activity that:
a) is committed for political, religious, ideological or similar purposes and involves a violent act; or the unlawful use of force or an unlawful act dangerous to human life or tangible real property and/or property; and
b) is carried out by any person or group(s) of persons, whether acting alone or on behalf of or in connection with any organization(s); and
c) is intended to:
- intimidate or coerce a civilian population; or
- disrupt any segment of the economy of a government, state or country; or
- overthrow, influence, or affect the conduct of any government by intimidation or coercion; or
- affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination and/or kidnap or hostage crisis taking; and
d) has caused damage to policyholder’s real property and/or property, or bodily injury or death and disablement to any insured person(s) and/or prevents the policyholder and/or any insured person(s) from having access to or from being able to exit from the real property and/or property due to deprivation.
